Interaction between temperature and water nutrient levels on the fitness of Eccritotarsus catarinensis (Hemiptera: Miridae), a biological control agent of water hyacinth
Fitness traits of insect herbivores may change with environmental conditions. We tested the interaction of temperature and nutrient status of water on the fitness of E. catarinensis. The reduction in fitness due to higher temperatures was significantly enhanced when combined with low nutritional status. The insect followed non-linear and linear responses, depending on temperatures and water nutrient status.
