High efficient removal of lead from aqueous solution by preparation of novel PPG-nZVI beads as sorbents

PVA and pumice synthetized guar gum nZVI beads (PPG-nZVI beads) were prepared by flocculation reaction. The PPG-nZVI beads before and after adsorption were characterized by SEM, XPS and FTIR. The removal rates increased with increasing PPG-nZVI beads dosage but decreased with the increase in initial concentration of Pb2+ and ionic strength. The removal of Pb2+ can be explained to adsorption and co-precipitation. The adsorption data of Pb2+ by PPG-nZVI beads can be well fitted with second-order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm model.
