Evaluation of mechanical properties of an experimental microalloyed steel subjected to tempering heat treatment and its effect on hydrogen embrittlement

Hydrogen embrittlement was studied on tempered experimental microalloyed steel. UTS, YS and %E tend to decrease as the hydrogen charging time increases. Precipitation kinetics affect the mechanical properties of tempered steels. 400 °C–10 and 300 min condition were less susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement. Hydrogen permeability parameters change due to the evolution of hydrogen traps.
