Graphene-like 2D materials (2DMats) allow applications in sensing and biosensing, energy conversion and storage, catalysis, electronics and biomedical field.

Boron nitride (BN), graphite-carbon nitride (g-C3N4), transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), transition metal oxides and graphane are the most widely investigated graphene-like 2D nanomaterials.

Among the possible applications of graphene-like 2D materials, sensing and biosensing are emerging, because of their excellent electrical and optical properties.

A biomarker generally refers to a measurable indicator of some biological state or condition, such as glucose, hydrogen peroxide, dopamine, and cancer markers.
