This is the first report of protective efficacy of “r-b-flagellin + r-PilA” against P. aeruginosa strains in the burned-mouse model.
Active “r-b-flagellin + r-PilA” immunization yielded good humoral immune response (increase IgG1/IgG2a and IL-4/IFN-γ responses).
Antibodies raised to “r-b-flagellin + r-PilA” were able to also increased P. aeruginosa opsonophagocytic activity.
Using “r-b-flagellin + r-PilA” as vaccine, a high level of protection against multi-drug resistant P. aeruginosa burn infections was obtained.
