Epoxy coatings are prepared by soft lithography using abrasive papers as templates. Surface hydrophobicity can be tuned by changing the grit size of the abrasive papers. The surface microstructures enhances the barrier effects in wet-dry cyclic immersion. The surface microstructures leads to rapid failures of the coatings under salt spray.
