Essential oils isolated from seven aromatic plants grown in Colombia were analyzed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) and evaluated for repellent activity against Sitophilus zeamais (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) using the area preference method. Most oil components were oxygenated monoterpenoids or phenolic compounds. Six oils were repellent, with Lippia origanoides the most active. Eucalyptus citriodora and Tagetes lucida were also repellant at doses between 0.063 and 0.503 μL/cm2.
