Mesozoic metallogenic epochs for Mexico: Triassic to Middle Jurassic, Oxfordian to Albian-Cenomanian, and Cenomanian to Maastrichtian. The Albian–Cenomanian represents the divide between deposits of the oceanic and the continental magmatic realm. That shift was predated by similar ones that begun in the rest of North America between the Early Jurassic and the Early Cretaceous. These processes are bound to the consolidation of the Pacific continental-oceanic convergent margin since the Late Jurassic. Ore deposits associated with the Gulf of Mexico basin dynamics likely formed in pre-Sevier, syn-Sevier, syn-Laramide and post-Laramide stages.
