The causal link between personality and cognition, is unclear. Early experiences can affect personality, but the role for cognition is unexplored. We study how early cognitive stimulation affects adult personality in red junglefowl. This early stimulation altered vigilance and escape attempts in personality assays. Our results offer a direction to the causality between cognition and personality.
