This work presents the determination of NPs in eleven food-grade SAS samples.
A sequential procedure using DLS, AF4-MALS-ICPMS and TEM is proposed and discussed.
AF4-ICPMS allowed the detection of SiO2-NPs below 100 nm at mg L−1 level.
Minimum detectable sizes by TEM are reported together with SiO2-NPs’ size values.
Techniques in this work can be only positive tests for EC Regulation 1169/2011.
