The impact of pitch motion of a platform on the aerodynamic performance of a floating vertical axis wind turbine

The Improved Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation and overset mesh are employed. Aerodynamic performance is compared between the pitch and no-pitch conditions. A stronger blades-wake interaction is induced by the pitch motion of the rotor. The pitch motion can improve the power output of the vertical axis wind turbines. Aerodynamic forces are sensitive to the changes of pitching periods and amplitudes.
