Fermented garlic extract (FGE) prevented high fat diet-induced hepatic steatosis. FGE attenuated insulin resistance and lipid accumulation in liver. Preventive mechanism involved in lipid metabolism and anti-oxidation. Major active compounds in FGE were identified, cycloalliin and S-allyl cysteine.
