Peat profiles of a blanket bog and a raised bog from Asturias N, Spain are studied. Biomarkers and macerals have been quantified in the Middle-to-Late Holocene profiles. Herbaceous plant proxies dominate the blanket bog and Sphagnum ones the raised bog. Raised bog has higher sensitivity to record palaeohydrological changes than blanket bog. Differences in huminite reflectance are more related to oxygen availability than to maturation.
