3-Butyne-2-one is hydrogenated to 2-butanol over a Pd(NO3)2/Al2O3 catalyst. Hydrogenation of 3-Butyne-2-one over a PdCl2/Al2O3 catalyst stops at 2-butanone. Site-selective hydrogenation of a,b-unsaturated carbonyls is proposed.
