A highly efficient catalytic system [Pd(OAc)2/PCy3] has been developed. All target products were obtained with good to excellent yields. The synthesis of 2-arylindole via Pd-catalytic 1,2-migration was firstly discovered. The catalyst has been also applied to synthesize 2-arylbenzofuran.
