Soft Janus nanoparticles with PS and PMAA hemispheres stabilize water/oil interfaces but not water/solid and water/air interfaces. The Janus particles can be used as stabilizers in soap-fee emulsion polymerization. Polymer coatings prepared from Janus particle-stabilized dispersions showed reduced surface hydrophobicity.
