Textural properties of volcanic particles from selected eruptions were measured. 3D Fractal dimension and 3D sphericity were measured with X-ray microtomography. Free falling experiments were carried out for measuring the particle-fluid drag. New drag laws were obtained as a function of the 3D shape descriptors. The new laws were used for inferring terminal velocity of typical volcanic particles.
