Shell effects in the masses of heaviest nuclei, most of which are well deformed, are studied. The main attention is paid to the study of the high-multipolarity components, β₆⁰ and β₈⁰, of the equilibrium deformation of these nuclei, and of the contribution of these components to the masses of the nuclei. Even-even nuclides with proton numbers Z = 82 – 120 and neutron numbers N = 126 – 190 are considered.
