Fucoidan ScF (80 kDa) was isolated from the brown alga Saccharina cichorioides. Polysaccharide derivatives were obtained by autohydrolysis for 24, 48 and 72 h. Pellet (PL) and supernatant (SN) fractions were obtained by ethanol precipitation. All derivatives inhibited colony formation of colorectal carcinoma cells HT-29. ScF-SN-72 derivative was 6% more active than fucoidan ScF and had MW 6 kDa.
