RGO/c-leucite composite was successfully prepared by in situ crystallization with simultaneous thermal reduction of GO.

RGO sheets were dispersed homogenously in leucite matrix and exhibited efficient interfacial bonding without chemical reaction.

The addition of rGO led to the refinement of c-leucite grains.

Significant enhancement of mechanical properties of rGO/c-leucite was achieved.
