A novel surfactant-templating assembly coating approach has been developed.

The flexible CNTs@mTiO2 hybrid mesoporous nanocables have been successfully synthesized.

The CNTs@mTiO2 has high surface area, uniform mesopores and ultrathin anatase shells.

The obtained CNTs@mTiO2 show excellent rate-capability and long cycling stability.
