Stakeholder perceptions of red lionfish (Pterois volitans) as a threat to the ecosystem and its potential for human consumption in Quintana Roo, Mexico
We compared stakeholder perceptions on lionfish as a threat and as a food resource. No difference between stakeholder perceptions was detected on the lionfish invasion. Stakeholder engagement in conservation provides benefits through integrated control efforts. Public opinion allowed better understanding of the socio-ecological of this invasion.
