The aim of this systematic review was to determine the level of resistin in individuals with and without chronic periodontitis (CP). Ten studies included in the present review enlisted eight cross-sectional and two prospective intervention studies. Chronic periodontitis patients were presented with elevated levels of GCF or serum resistin as compared with periodontally healthy individuals. Resistin biomarker modulates inflammation in CP and can be used as surrogate measure to identify CP.
