Carbon changes the solidification behavior from β phase to peritectic solidification. Dislocations in solution treated γ phase act as nucleation sites of Ti3AlC precipitations. Ti3AlC precipitates as fine needle-like or granular shape in the solution treated matrix. Ti2AlC carbides precipitate during the solid state phase transformation process.
