Khark Island, SW Iran, is the most important oil export hubs of Iran in Persian Gulf. Both natural and anthropogenic origin controlled PTEs in the island. Quality and risk assessment of the sediments revealed low to moderate pollution. Microplastics were mostly fragments and fibres in collected sediment samples. Microplastics could act as a “potential contaminant vector” in marine environment.
