Children’s representations of another person’s spatial perspective: Different strategies for different viewpoints?

文摘

We examined spatial perspective taking in 8-to-12-year-olds.

Perspective-taking performance improves with age and relates to working memory.

Children are less accurate and slower for 90° than for 180° rotations.

Results indicate the use of a mental self-rotation strategy for 90° rotations.

For 180° rotations, children invert the axes, without mental self-rotation.
