A hyperthermostable alkaline BSL with broad substrate specificity was characterized. BSL is thiol activated and detergent stable lipase. BSL efficiently hydrolyzed olive oil, mustard oil and cotton seed oil cake. BSL was found as promising candidate for bio-detergent formulation.
