Heart rate variability (HRV) indexes central-peripheral neural feedback mechanisms. Biofeedback (BF) was implemented in a sample with subclinical psychotic symptoms. BF led to more perceived control for post-stressor recovery than waiting. In those breathing per protocol, BF was superior to increase HRV & reduce symptoms. BF has the potential to affect physiological, psychological, and symptom domains.
