Studied arsenite oxidase (aroA-like) & arsenate reductase genes (arsC) in contaminated soils.

aroA-like & arsC genes were amplified from As-hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata rhizosphere.

aroA-like genes were more abundant and biodiversified than arsC genes.

Most bacteria with aroA-like and arsC genes belonged to α-, β- and γ-Proteobacteria.

Arsenate amendment elevated aroA-like gene diversity but reduced arsC gene diversity.
