Implications of the aerosol size distribution modal structure of trace and major elements on human exposure, inhaled dose and relevance to the PM2.5 and PM10 metrics in a European pollution hotspot urban area

S, Zn, Pb, Br, Sb, As, Cl, Cd size distribution in U. Silesia had a major fine mode. Fe, Ca had a major coarse mode and K, Cr, Mn and Cu had broad size distributions. For most elements the inhaled lung dose was well estimated from PM2.5, PM10 levels. Significant deviations were observed for certain metals (Mn, Cd, Br, Fe, Ca).
