Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 contributes to endoplasmic reticulum stress induced podocyte apoptosis via promoting MEKK1 phosphorylation at Ser280 in diabetic nephropathy
High glucose induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in podocytes. Inhibition of ER stress attenuated podocyte apoptosis and Cdk5 expression induced by high glucose. ER stress via Cdk5 to phosphorylate MEKK1 at Ser280 in podocytes Inhibition of Cdk5 and MEKK1 decreased phosphorylation of JNK and podocyte apoptosis induced by ER stress.
