The highest SIA levels coincided with regional episodes or European air masses. Combustion processes were found to contribute up to 21.0 μg PM/m3 to PM10. PM10 was influenced by a nearby steelworks and industrial activities. Road traffic and precursor gases of secondary particles primarily influenced PM10. SIA was one of the major components of PM10 (up to 47.8%) at a suburban background.
