Tree of heaven: a highly invasive plant species and an emerging cause of pollen allergy worldwide. The first attempt to identify pollen allergens from this plant family (Simaroubaceae). From about 125 2-DE protein spots, 13 were IgE reactive and 3 candidate allergens was identified. Two IgE binding proteins i.e. enolase and pectate lyase are well-known pollen allergens. The third one is calreticulin, already reported as allergen in molds and helminths.
