Graphene oxide (GO) modified with butyl, octyl and hexadecyl chains. Alkylated GO show very good compatibility with polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA). Percolating networks detected by rheology at filler contents above ∼2 wt%. PHA crystallization facilitated by alkylated GO, especially below ∼2 wt% particles. Both GO content and alkyl chain length influence PHA nanocomposite properties.
