A novel small-molecule compound was identified to provide anti-influenza effect in vitro and in vivo. An RT-qPCR based assay was modified to evaluate the polymerase activity of various subtypes of influenza viruses. The PB1-PB2 assembly strategies of the trimeric polymerase complex might be stain/subtype specific.
