Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) containing sulfonic acid groups is easily prepared through the oxidation reaction. The largest value of proton exchange capacities (5.39 meq of H+/g) of POSS is observed. POSS is simply found as a catalyst for well-controlled polymerization of PCL without the addition of solvents and co-catalyst.
