A new functionalized zinc-substituted polyoxovanadate, [Zn(en)₃]₂[Zn(bpp)(en)₂][Zn(en)₂(H₂O)][(bpp)Zn₂As₈V₁₂O₄₀(H₂O)]₂ · bpp · 7H₂O 1 (en = ethylenediamine, and bpp = 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane) has been synthesized and characterized by IR, TG, and single-crystal X-ray analysis. The wave-like one-dimensional chain of 1 is constructed from neutral bi-supporting zinc-substituted polyoxovanadate clusters and zinc-substituted polyoxovanadate anions, which are directly linked by bpp organic ligands. Magnetic measurement shows antiferromagnetic interaction for 1.
