Direct mineral tracer activation in positron emission particle tracking of a flotation cell

Quartz and hematite particles of −1180 + 1000 μm diameter were directly activated. Mineral tracers of −106 + 90 μm diameter were created by the breakage of directly activated particles. Flotation of hematite from quartz was performed with oleic acid and sodium silicate. Motion of quartz and hematite tracers in the flotation cell was tracked and analysed. Bulk motion, velocity and pulp-froth interface were determined based on tracking data.
