Highly porous 3D-Mn/Zn bimetallic oxide is synthesized by microwave irradiation for the first time. Electrochemical activity of MnO2 is greatly enhanced by alloying with ZnO. Mn/Zn bimetallic oxide electrode exhibits a high specific capacitance of 251 F g−1 at a current density of 0.5 A g−1. Bimetallic oxide electrode exhibits a very stable cycling performance over 5000 cycles. Correlation between the structure and electrochemical performance of bimetallic oxide is proposed.
