A gPC based approach was applied to uncertainty quantification of complex chemical processes.

The proposed gPC method was compared with the conventional MC/QMC methods.

The proposed method reduces computational cost by 10–100 times while keeping prediction accuracy.

Sobol’s sensitivity indices obtained directly from the surrogated gPC model reduce simulations further.
