Untreated antenatal depression may have devastating effects on the fetus (75). Negative repercussions were also found in newborns children, and adolescents (78). Such effects also include neurodevelopmental problems and neurotransmitter changes (85). These effects must be balanced with the risks of antenatal antidepressant exposure (85).
