Gut dysbiosis has been associated with alterations of central nervous system (CNS). The effects of dysbiosis on the CNS are significantly more important during the developmental period. Both probiotics and prebiotics can have different impacts on CNS. In humans, several factors may be important in conditioning gut microbiota modifications. Efforts are required to clarify the mechanisms that are influenced by the gut microbiota at the CNS level.
