Cotton substrate was modified by the spontaneous deposit of chitosan molecules. The bound chitosan would not influence the internal structure of cotton. An anionic microencapsulated pigment dispersion was prepared in a miniemulsion process. The coloring depth of cotton was significantly enhanced after chitosan modification.
