Esterification of lignins improves its thermal behaviour for industrial processing. Lignin ester derivative has been used as hydrophobic agent for wood products. Hydrophobization of wood was performed by coating and immersion methods. The stability against water and oil increase after coating and immersion methods. The efficiency of treatments over time was confirmed by artificial aging.
