In this paper recent developments in automation of reservoir management are reviewed. The antithetic relationship of automation and situation awareness is lightened up. This paper proposes a situation awareness model for automated reservoir management. This model provides higher degree of freedom in automated reservoir management. After formulation the model is evaluated on a water flooding case study.
