Symptom profiles of severe health anxiety (SHA) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) were investigated. Improvement trajectories on measures of health anxiety and OCD after exposure and response prevention were analyzed. The findings indicate that SHA and OCD are distinct constructs with relatively limited overlap. The results have implications for symptom assessment and treatment selection.
