A recombinant PCV2b capsid protein (ΔCP) devoid of a decoy epitope is produced. The decoy epitope is replaced with a neutralizing epitope in PCV2b capsid protein. The replacement works to avoid inducing anti-decoy epitope antibody by the ΔCP. The replacement improves the efficacy of the ΔCP in inducing neutralizing antibody. The ΔCP induces improved protective immune responses in pigs challenged with PCV2b.
