A 400 × 90 km large Cretaceous submarine turbidite fan complex on the southern Laurasia margin. Turbidite fan complex in the Pontides developed on the active Laurasia margin. No coeval magmatic detritus in the turbidite sandstones. The eastern part of the fan was fed from the Archean-Paleoproterozoic Ukranian Shield. The Black Sea opened after deposition of Lower Cretaceous (Barremian-Aptian) clastics.
