Immiscible Fe- and Si-rich silicate melts in plagioclase from the Baima mafic intrusion (SW China): Implications for the origin of bi-modal igneous suites in large igneous provinces

文摘

Polycrystalline mineral inclusion was firstly identified in plagioclase in the ELIP.

The polycrystalline mineral inclusions represent entrapment of contemporaneous melts.

The trapped melt was likely a mixture of Fe-rich and Si-rich melts with phenocrysts.

Liquid immiscibility shall be considered in the formation of bi-modal igneous suites.
