P53 cDNA was identified from pufferfish. Pf-p53 was up-regulated after bacterial infection. Vibrio alginolyticus induced ROS, interrupt Ca2+ homeostasis, and subsequently lead to DNA damage and apoptosis. Overexpression of Pf-p53 inhibited Hela cells proliferation. Pf-p53 inhibited the transcriptional activities of the NF-ĸB reporter genes.
